Global Crossing Names New Channel VP

Global Crossing Ltd. has named Charles Murray as the vice president of indirect channels, filling the post vacated by Jeff Callahan last week, according to company spokesman Richard Larris.

Murray, whose appointment is effective immediately, previously served as vice president of sales engineering in Boston for the carrier.

In addition, Larris said Kim Boedicker, program manager, and Jeremy Jones, director of channel sales, will report to Murray in his new role.

Callahan left the post last week after only a year on the job. A longtime employee of Global Crossing and once the CEO’s right hand, he took control of the indirect channel in mid-April 2007. Sources close to the company said Callahan left on his own accord. Global Crossing did not confirm this information.

Callahan’s departure is the latest for the channel. Prior to Callahan, the channel was headed up by Jim D’Arcangelo, who also was vice president of strategic marketing at the time. (D’Arcangelo left that post and Global Crossing in December 2007.) Shane McNamara, former director of channel sales under D’Arcangelo and, later under Callahan, left the company in September to work for Global Crossing agent CDW.
