House Approves Internet Tax Ban

10/30/2007

The House approved a seven-year extension on the Internet tax ban Tuesday.

It voted 402-0 to approve the bill. The original version in the House had called for the ban to be extended by four years.

The Senate approved the ban last week and President Bush must sign the bill by Thursday for it to take effect.

The original ban on local and federal governments implementing taxes on Internet access was set in 1998. Congress already has extended the ban twice. U.S. House
