Tara Seals
02/13/2008 Movial launched the Social Communicator application at Mobile World Congress on Wednesday, based on "VoiceEngine" technology from VoIP media processing company Global IP Solutions (GIPS). Social Communicator, offered to service providers as a revenue-enhancing service, brings voice and video calling, social media content (e.g. YouTube, RSS feeds, Flickr, etc.), unified messaging, online information delivery, and video feeds together for content sharing and real-time communication. Using GIPS media processing, Social Communicator can ensure a quality of experience for VoIP, the companies said. "With GIPS media processing technology Movial is able to provide consistent, high-quality VoIP communication to users," said Victor Donselaar, president of Movial. "More than 15 operators around the world rely on Movial's unified communications solutions today. Social Communicator is the bridge that unites mobile operators with Internet companies to encourage more communication, and helps carriers increase average revenues per user." VoiceEngine Mobile allows developers of VoIP applications for mobile environments to overcome unique obstacles, such as network degradation, device limitations acoustic echoing, and background noise via a single, high-level API on Symbian, OSE and Windows platforms supporting both narrowband and HD voice.
