Packet Island Unveils Micro-Appliance

Packet Island Inc. has released a micro-appliance that works with the company’s software-as-a-service platform, which allows VoIP service providers and VARs to pre-assess SMB networks for VoIP readiness and continuously monitor traffic for service levels.

The micro-appliance, which comes in a 4x4.5 case, incorporates several new capabilities including fail-safe operation (no network disruption even during power failure); ability to work in front of NAT firewalls; ability to work with mirrored switch ports; and VLAN support.
